Pressure Relief Valves

This highly specialized training is essential for personnel involved in the installation, maintenance, and setting of safety valves (also referred to as pressure relief or overpressure protection devices). The training is suited for individuals who require certification or formal authorization to work on these safety-critical pressure relief devices, as per applicable standards and regulations (EN, ISO, ASME, PED).

Training Objectives:
  • Understand the purpose and function of safety valves.
  • Comprehend the operating principles of safety valves.
  • Gain insight into the most important application areas for safety valves.
  • Identify key considerations and common issues related to safety valve installation.
  • Understand which maintenance activities are permitted / performed safely.

Typical One-Day Training Topics (Customizable)
  • Introduction, terminology, functions (design as per DIN and ANSI)
  • Standards and codes: ISO 4126, API 526, and ASME Section XIII
  • Load mechanisms: spring-loaded, weight-loaded, and pilot-operated designs
  • Balanced bellows safety valves (back-pressure applications)
  • Breather valves: operation and testing in accordance with API 2000
  • Inspection and overhaul of safety-critical pressure relief devices
  • Overhaul and repair cycles: repair versus replacement
  • Hands-on workshop sessions, including:
  • Acceptance criteria, test media, procedures, and leak detection as per API 527
  • Testing, overhauling, and (re)setting of safety valves

Note: Thanks to our modular training concept, all course content can be seamlessly combined and redistributed across modules and specific subject areas.
